Dr. Robert Gehrig, DMD

Dr. Gehrig has been in practice in Fort Pierce since 1981. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Florida/Shands Teaching Hospital in 1981.  He has studied at the Pankey Institute, the Dawson Academy and numerous other continuing education courses over the years. The Academy of General Dentistry is an organization which represents dentists.  The Academy recognizes fellowship and mastership positions and currently Dr. Gehrig holds a Fellowship in general dentistry and his working on his Mastership.  Dr. Gehrig has held several leadership positions within the Academy of General Dentistry.

The American College of Dentists granted Fellowship to Dr. Gehrig. Less than 3.5 percent of the dentists in the USA are extended Fellowship in this honorary, and by invitation only, organization.

Dr. Gehrig maintains membership in the American College of Dentists; American Dental Association; Florida Dental Association; Atlantic Coast District Dental Association; Treasure Coast Dental Society; Academy of General Dentistry; Florida Academy of General Dentistry; Special Care Dentistry Association; and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.  He has been active in leadership in many of these organizations including Florida Dental Association Delegate, President of the Treasure Coast Dental Society, President of the Florida Academy of General Dentistry, and Membership Council Chair of the Academy of General Dentistry. He currently is Membership Chair for the Florida Academy of General Dentistry and serves on the Membership Council of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Community service has been an important part of Dr. Gehrig’s life. He was Co-chair for the Campaign for the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County and was appointed to the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County by Governor Martinez and Governor Childs. He has been associated with the CASTLE since his arrival in Fort Pierce in 1981. He has served as President of the Governing Board and currently serves on the Foundation Board. Through his family and friends participation in the Exchange Club Chili Cook-Off , he has raised well over $100,000.00 for the CASTLE. For 20 years, he has been volunteer Little League Umpire. He is a Member and former President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Exchange Club of Fort Pierce. Boy Scout Troop 471 was an important organization in his life and Dr. Gehrig was a Scoutmaster. He is a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.

He is married to Grisel Perez-Gehrig for over thirty years, and has two grown children; R. Anthony Gehrig and Audrey Franklyn. Audrey and her husband, Kevin have three boys who are the greatest grandchildren ever!
